Professor Henry T. Wilkinson

RESEARCH EMPHASIS

I study the etiology and management of turf diseases and the dynamics of microorganisms in the rhizospheres of grass roots.   A new thrust in my research is the exploration of the genetic composition of Gaeumannomyces and Magnaporthe fungi that parasites grass roots.  The genetic transformation of both grass plants and fungi that colonize grass plants is a research area that we are continuing to develop.

In addition to the basic research activities in my program,  I conduct considerable applied research on turfgrass disease resistance,  sports field root zone constructions and the production and use of sod.

OPPORTUNTIES TO WORK WITH US

I am interested in having new students and visiting faculty join my program.  We have an exciting and active group of students faculty and staff in the program.  Our laboratory, computer, library and field facilities are superb.  If you have an interest in joining us,  contact me at hwilkins@uiuc.edu
